Yesterday was a fascinating day. I drove back to my hometown and visited a very special carnival event, the “Endinger NarrenFest 2007″. This was a celebration march for the 225th anniversary of the first historical note of the Endinger carnival figure “Jokili”.
Carnival groups from all over Europe, even a group from Venezuela, visited Endingen for a three day event. Showing a never seen variety of carnival and tradition in one place. Even the SWR television channel aired a reportage about the three days.
The Endinger carnival organization “Endinger Narrenzunft 1782 e.V.” prepared a website (in german language) for this event, containing lots of information about each of the 22 groups and much more. For german speaking people interested in carnival a must read!
